Subtraction Lesson Study (Brooklyn)

  • P.S. 261 276-334 Pacific Street Brooklyn, NY, 11201 United States (map)

Does subtraction always mean finding the difference between two quantities? Is it true that when you take away the part that’s the same, what you have left is the difference?

This study lesson will take place in a 2nd grade classroom, but the work is applicable K-3, and teachers from any grade are welcome to attend.  This all day study (8:30-2:50) involves observing the lesson, debriefing, and planning for future work in our own classrooms.  Teachers will be asked to bring curriculum materials from an upcoming lesson or unit to facilitate planning.

Per diem may be available for coverage so that teachers can attend.

Participation in an Operations & Algebraic Thinking Progressions workshop is recommended but not required.

Register here.
